This statistics project has enabled us to learn how to be more thorough and efficient in data acquisition and research gathering. As you could see from our methodology, we placed a lot of emphasis on the reliability and accuracy of our data.
This project also allowed the development of in depth evaluation especially during the process of scrutinising the reliability and validity of our data. Critical thinking is also required when we decide on our inclusion and exclusion criteria and how it will affect the result of our project.
In addition, our inter-personal skills are put to test as we had a challenging time getting people to participate in our data collection. It gives us an idea of how difficult the data gathering process could be and serves to get us mentally prepared for more daunting processes that we might face when we undertake research projects at a higher level.
Other important skills such as teamwork and group communication techniques have also been enhanced. With differing schedules, it was quite a headache to find a common time for discussion. However, this was overcome with the help of electronic mails and of course, each other's effort in compromising.
All in all, this learning experience will definitely be invaluable not just in our year 3 FYP but also in any other projects which we may have to do in the future.
